LOS GATOS, CA - Against the dark backdrop of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the third annual Loma Public Education Fund (LPEF) Holiday Tree Lighting brought together over 100 community members, including more than 50 children, for a festive celebration at Summit Veterinary Hospital on Summit Rd. Sponsored by LPEF, the event showcased the power of community and holiday spirit.
The clear night sky and cool air set the stage for a magical experience as families, members of the LPEF board, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Grier, members of the LPJUSD school board, Santa Cruz County Fire Captain Lance Lougee, and Santa Cruz County Supervisor Manu Koenig gathered to celebrate.
The Santa Cruz County Fire Department added excitement to the festivities by providing tours of a fire truck and casting a warm glow with their lighting display. Children eagerly explored the fire truck, blending education with the holiday spirit.
El Buen food truck, a local favorite, delighted attendees with its mouthwatering offerings. Despite a slight delay in lighting the tree, the atmosphere remained festive, and nobody enjoying a hot taco or quesadilla seemed to mind.
LPEF, committed to supporting schools and children, ensured the youngest attendees were not left out. Light-up toys added a playful sparkle to the night, and hot chocolate, candy canes, and cold drinks enhanced the overall experience.
The presence of key community figures, including Santa Cruz County Fire Captain Lance Lougee and Supervisor Manu Koenig, emphasized the event's significance in fostering connections between the community and local leadership.
As the evening culminated in the lighting of the holiday tree, the collective spirit of the community shone brightly against the night sky. The LPEF Holiday Tree Lighting has firmly established itself as an annual tradition, weaving together the fabric of the Santa Cruz Mountains community with lights, laughter, and a shared sense of celebration.
