BOULDER CREEK, CA - Last night, Joe's Bar in downtown Boulder Creek was a hub of holiday cheer as the local favorite held its annual Christmas party. Despite a chill in the air and a quieter downtown atmosphere, the community came together for a night of festivity and philanthropy.
This year's party, though drawing a smaller crowd than previous years, still saw a strong turnout. The event doubled as a fundraiser for Valley Churches United, a non-profit food pantry organization dedicated to serving the needs of low-income residents in the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley. As a 501(c)(3) entity that operates without government funding, Valley Churches United relies entirely on the generosity of individuals, local businesses, and organizations for support.
Patrons of Joe's participated in a raffle, hoping to win a variety of donated items, all in the spirit of supporting this vital community resource. Dinner tickets were also sold for $30, contributing to the fundraiser. The menu featured a holiday feast: glazed ham, cheesy scalloped potatoes, garlic green beans, salad, dinner rolls, and a selection of desserts.
Live music added to the festive ambiance, with Sharon Allen and the Dusty Blues providing the soundtrack for the evening. Sharon, a staple at this event for over four decades, energized the crowd with her spirited performance, even dancing on the bar to the delight of the attendees.
The bartenders at Joe's brought their own festive spirit, dressing in their favorite Christmas outfits. Corina, in a meticulously detailed Cindy Lou Who costume, was a standout, charming everyone who saw her. The patrons, too, got into the holiday spirit, with attire ranging from a Santa Claus at the bar to holiday sweaters and Christmas-themed pajamas.
As the celebrations at Joe's continued late into the night, it was clear that the evening was about much more than just holiday cheer. It was a demonstration of Boulder Creek's deep-rooted sense of community and its commitment to lending a hand to a neighbor in need.
